Illegal Immigrant Measure Passed in Georgia

And the wave of anti-illegal immigration sentiment continues to spread like wildfire!
Cha Cha Cha!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cherokee County Commissioners unanimously passed a measure Tuesday night that will make it illegal to rent to illegal immigrants. They also passed a measure making English the official language of Cherokee County.

Opponents of the measure were angered. They said they showed up hours early and signed up to have a chance to speak, but when the time came, commissioners told them they would not have any discussion on the issue.

Debbie Seagraves, the head of the ACLU of Georgia, says the Commissioners violated residents' First Amendment Rights by refusing to let anyone speak on either issue.

"They trampled all over [illegal] immigrants tonight, it was spin the wheel on [illegal] immigrant bashing in Cherokee County," said Jerry Gonzalez, Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials.[right after the bashing they will get their butts kicked back to Mexico too]

For their part, commissioners said they know the county will likely be sued and that taxpayers will incur costs, but that it's worth it.

Opponents of the measure have already hired a team of lawyers to sue the county.

Supporters of the measure say illegal immigration is ruining their communities. [that's right!]

Billy Inman, a longtime Cherokee County resident, said immigrants need to be held responsible for their actions and that this is one way to do it.

"Anything to discourage this illegal immigration is a plus," said Inman. [halleluja baby]

Other communities in the United States have passed similar challenges that are being played out in court.

There is no word when the measure will take effect.
